Adam Heart, better known as “Keits” within the fighting game community, has launched a Kickstarter today in conjunction with the newly renamed One True Game Studios. The studio’s first game, Divekick, is 2D fighting distilled to its two most important elements: diving and kicking. What adittedly started out as a joke among friends, Divekick has been gaining momentum in the fighting community after successful showings at the Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament 8 and CEO 2012. Following the recent success of indie fighter Skullgirls, plus the Kickstarter wave, One True Game Studios has decided to move forward with a commercial Steam release, banking that the less-is-more design of Divekick can appeal to non-fans of the genre as well. My guess is, with those controllers, anyone would be willing to give it a shot.

Parties interested in Divekick‘s simple yet eccentric brand of face kicking can support the game in denominations ranging from $10-3000, the former pre-ordering you a copy of the Steam release, and the latter allowing you to design your very own divekicking character. Hurry though, only two backer-designed characters allowed.

Finally, if you’re going to EVO 2012, Divekick will be there in full force.
