Nearly a month ago we reported on a Kickstarter for the indie fighter Divekick. Today, we’re here to tell you the Kickstarter was successfully funded… and then canceled. In a seemingly unprecedented move, One True Game Studio met their financial goal but also was able to find private funding and a publisher in the process. No details have been given about who the publisher is, or if this means Divekick will arrive on platforms other than just the PC, but One True Game claims it will “help us both finish and release Divekick to the masses!” They then go on to say the final version of the game will be “loaded with features and characters”, though it’s unclear if that is any more loaded than the kickstarted variant might have been.
Those who attempted to pledge (the funding has been canceled) in the Kickstarter in most cases will be elevated to the reward tier above what they pledged, though physical objects such as the backer t-shirt will have to be pre-ordered separately. Pre-orders of the game itself, which were part of every reward tier, unfortunately will not be honored under the new publishing agreement. If you were a backer, check your email or cruise over to Divekick‘s Kickstarter page to see what you’re now in line for.
For future details about Divekick, keep an eye on One True Game’s website.
